The Challenges

Mufutuli Vineyard Ministries near Chirundu, Zambia runs an orphanage, a school, and a farm. Today, their drinking water and irrigation both come from the Kafue River.

Since 2024, severe drought has reduced output from the Kariba Dam — the source of 43% of Zambia's electricity — triggering rolling blackouts across the country that regularly disrupt the school.

Additionally, electricity running costs for the farm's irrigation pump are currently $1,500 a month — $18,000 a year.
